We started Southern Oasis because we couldn't find the hostel we actually wanted. So we built it.
Our Story
Why we started Southern Oasis.
In 2019, two burnt-out travellers — Mia from Sweden and Rafi, a Balinese surfer from Canggu — had the same conversation that travellers always have: "why can't a hostel be like this?"
They meant a place where you actually talked to people. Where the garden wasn't an afterthought. Where the staff remembered your name. Where something interesting was always about to happen.
They found a crumbling villa on a quiet lane in Canggu, spent six months fixing it up with friends, and opened the doors in January 2020 with 14 beds and a very optimistic pool.
A pandemic, a renovation, and 600+ guests later — the idea holds. Southern Oasis is exactly the hostel we wished existed.
